Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
If I'm the GM/Scout I'd do a TON of due diligence on Robert and talk to former teammates, coaches, trainers etc to find out as much as I possible. Depending who is out there & what reports tell them, I would pull the trigger on Nkemdiche.
Is he a risky pick? No doubt..I remember a lot of teams passed on Warren Sapp (including NO). We ended up selecting Fields ![]() The Saints need a DT that consistently control the like of scrimmage, and create seams/gaps so that our LB's and D ends have more chances to make game changing plays. We need a big, nasty tree stump, that isn't going to be pushed back and can get to the pocket & create chaos & destruction. To be continued ... |

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Next tier of DTs(so far none really stand out like Nkemdich)
Btw I did not include Robinson the first time because I don't think we're getting him. 1. He plays on a team that doesn't have all the tools to contend with the bigger schools but these type of schools players have been the alternative to the major BCS schools. He played hard, and with better defensive talent around him he should be better and small school players have shown to play hard. Early 2nd projection, for us, that may mean we get him or lose out. 2. First two games I thought he was okay, but looked better against Hawaii and Navy. He should be better given he's on a Urban Meyer defense. Early 3rd but might move up. 3. I don't like this one too much. Louiseville is not a defensive team but he just did not stand out to me. Also, he looked better against FSU than TAM. Early 2nd projection, possible late first. 4. I only saw one game with him and it did not help. We already have a guy by this name already so it would be weird to have two with it. Just was not seeing much from him. 2nd round. Draft Round 2-Butler Round 2-Washington(if Butler's gone) Do Not Draft Round 2-Rankins Round 2-Johnson |

Kenyan Drake? hmmm a RB. I am guessing they see little chance of signing Highertower cheap and maybe the Robinson experiment is almost over?
Round 3? solid receiver, and runner. Issue pass protection? how is the ankle? |

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Here's something interesting from Matt Miller at Bleacher Report:
"The top-ranked linebacker in this class, Jaylon Smith, is still a lock to go top 15 according to team sources. Smith, who tore his ACL and LCL in the Fiesta Bowl, is already back rehabbing two times a day according to sources close to the player. One team to keep an eye on is the New Orleans Saints. I'm told there is a lot of like for him at weakside linebacker on their board." I really like the sound of that. This is a deep class for D-Lineman so I would be fine with Smith in the first round. |
"When you get into one of these groups, there's only a couple of ways you can get out. One, is death; the other, is mental institutions."

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
If we have the chance to have a Lavonte David-style impact LB for the next five years with the stipulation that he starts this season on IR designated to return... I would absolutely pull the trigger on Jaylon Smith. How long have we complained about needing to upgrade our LB's? We have a MLB but there's still work to do and I would be fine with Smith.
