Scouts pick Miller, Wentz as Senior Bowl standouts | ProFootballTalk

Former Ohio State star Braxton Miller is trying to complete a transformation from quarterback to wide receiver and be an impact player in the NFL.

He probably made some money this week.

A panel of NFL scouts and Senior Bowl personnel voted the dynamic Miller as the top practice performer. Hundreds of NFL coaches, scouts and personnel execs watched three days of NFL-type practices this week in Mobile, Ala.

Also voted as top performers at their respective positions were Carson Wentz of North Dakota State, top quarterback; Kenneth Dixon of Louisiana Tech, top running back; Sterling Shepard of Oklahoma, top wide receiver; Jason Spriggs of Indiana, top offensive lineman; Noah Spence of Eastern Kentucky, top defensive lineman; Reggie Ragland of Alabama, top linebacker; Harlan Miller of Southeast Louisiana, top defensive back; and Jeff Overbaugh of San Diego State, top specialist.

Observation: Know the Saints spent some time with Noah Spence, but I have a hard time believing the Saints would step out of their norm on a prospect with past character, dependency issues...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Yellin: Saints should keep an eye on these 3 defensive gems in draft

Lyons Yellin, Eyewitness Sports, lyellin@wwltv.com 5:52 a.m. CST February 1, 2016

MOBILE – Now that the weeklong job interview for some of college football’s best seniors -- otherwise known as the Senior Bowl -- is complete, here are three defensive players whom the Saints ought to consider drafting this year.

1. Noah Spence, Eastern Kentucky, DE, 6-3, 254 pounds...More on Noah Spence

2. Vernon Butler, La. Tech, DT, 6-3, 325 pounds...More on Vernon Butler

3. Deion Jones, LSU, WLB, 6-3, 219 pounds...More on Deion Jones

Butler would look good in a Saints uniform. I would easily have no problem at all with him. I still hope he's there in the 2nd.

Several of the early mocks are showing the Saints taking A'Shawn Robinson in the first round...

After watching some more games over the weekend, I prefer Jarran Reed because of his versatility...

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............

Lee is a 3 down type of WLB no way around it and a good one with a high floor and upside still to develop. But mid first round talent? I am not completely sold on that one. Oddly enough it is the lack off talent at a position that can drive players up the chart also. WLB is a questionable position this year. A lot of players are hype driven at WLB.

WLB get all the press and the glory. Lee is a very good WLB but playing with Washington and Bosa in front of him makes me wonder if it more the sum of the parts that made him so good. I credit Lee, he is a good player. But I would ponder the sum of the parts bit when making the pick. Plus he did kinda fade towards the end of the season. As did most of OSU after they were out of the running. So when drafting an OSU player this year I will question this part of their game.

Other players were the sum of their parts is a consideration

Kinda like Kevin Dodd DE Clemson and all the fan fare he is getting. another good player but he really did not take off till the return of D.J. Reader DT Clemson. When Reader got back on the field then Dodd starting to have a bigger impact on games. Or was it Reader that was really having the most impact of the two?

Same goes for the DL of Penn st. Almost all of them are falling on the boards but one, Austin Johnson NT Penn State. As the play of the others are exposed the more Austin play becomes obvious.

just some thing i always ponder
