Illinois
Safety Clayton Fejedelem had a very good day, measuring 6000, 204 pounds, posting a vertical jump of 40.5 inches, broad jump of 10-1 and timing the 40 in 4.45 to 4.50. He also completed 20 reps on the bench. Fejedelem, who was not rated by scouts entering the season, finished off a terrific senior campaign with a good showing during Shrine week and now looks like a lock in the late rounds.

Receiver Geronimo Allison timed 4.56 in the 40 (compared to 4.67 at the Combine) and caught all the passes thrown to him in position drills.

Oregon
Oregon had four players invited to the Combine, but the prospect who wowed everyone at pro day was linebacker Joe Walker, would did not receive an invitation.

Walker's testing marks included measuring 6020, 236 pounds, posting a 37.5 inch vertical jump and a broad jump which measured 10-4. He completed 23 on the bench, then ran 40 times which clocked 4.60/4.63, a short shuttle of 4.37 and a 3-cone at 6.84. Walker then looked good in position drills.

Graded as a street free agent entering the year, Walker was considered a terrific football player (he led the Ducks with 87 tackle last season) but questionable athlete. This will now have scouts rethinking that opinion.

Walker met with the Cowboys last night.

Receiver Byron Marshall was fully healthy and able to test. His marks included 4.28 in the short shuttle and 6.95 in the 3-cone. Marshall looked good in position drills. He has a workout scheduled with the New England Patriots.

Offensive tackle Tyler Johnstone stood on his combine marks, but looked very good in position drills.

2016 Pro Day Notes: Friday, March 11, 11:15 a.m.

Ohio State
The league has descended on Columbus for Ohio State pro day, which is underway. Teams were on campus yesterday interviewing players (see below), including Joey Bosa, who had dinner with the San Diego Chargers last night. Le'Raven Clark of Texas Tech and the rest of the Red Raiders also take part in workouts today.

Safety Tyvis Powell will participate in position drills today and rest on his testing numbers from the Combine. Powell had one-on-one interviews with the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans and New Orleans Saints.

As mentioned during the Combine, the Titans will look to select a safety during the draft's second day. The Lions will look safety early as well after missing out on George Iloka in free agency.

Tight end Nick Vannett is expected to run today after not participating in the 40 at the combine. Yesterday, Vannett met with the Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, Atlanta Falcons and New York Jets.

Once again, the Jets are showing interest in Vannett, as they've met with him previously, and the team's offensive line coach worked out the tight end privately.

Fast-rising linebacker Darron Lee interviewed with the Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints yesterday.

One note from yesterday's pro day:

I mentioned Taveze Calhoun looked terrific in position drills during the Mississippi State workout and impressed scouts. I've since found out the San Francisco 49ers met extensively with Calhoun the evening before pro day, and the cornerback had private meetings with the Miami Dolphins, New York Giants as well as the Los Angeles Rams.

As for the Ohio State workouts:

Receiver Michael Thomas has been really impressive in the early going and timed under 4.4 on his second 40.

Thomas met with the New Orleans Saints yesterday, and from what I'm told, he had an outstanding meeting with the Cleveland Browns.

The receiver also has a workout scheduled with the New England Patriots next week.

I'm told tight end Vannett ran in the mid 4.7s.

Something to take note of: In the past, teams have usually added .03 to .05 to times at Ohio State pro day due to the fast surface,

2016 Pro Day Notes: Friday, March 11, 1:20 p.m.

Ohio State Pro day is coming to a close and these are the observations from people on the inside I briefly spoke with:

Michael Thomas/WR: "Best workout of the day. Ran faster than I expected, ran terrific routes and caught the ball really well. Much better receiver than people give him credit for."

Braxton Miller/WR: "Had a great workout but he also looked great during Senior Bowl practice. It's a matter of transitioning all this talent into game production, which he couldn't do during the Senior Bowl game. It may take a little longer than people want, but he'll get there."

Ezekiel Elliott/RB: "Looked significantly better catching the ball today. I don't know what was wrong during the combine."

Darron Lee/OLB: "Dynamic athlete and a good-looking football player. In the right system with proper coaching, he has Pro Bowl potential."

Joshua Perry/ILB: "Big, and maybe a little to big. Somewhat stiff." (not a quote but some feel he can only play in a 3-4).

Nick Vannett/TE: "He's going to be under-drafted. Should be a top-75 pick but may last until the fourth round. Does everything very well, but not the glamour-boy field-stretcher everyone wants today. "

More on the Buckeyes:

Some teams walked away from the Buckeyes' pro day with a 40 time for Michael Thomas in the low 4.3s. Like the Combine, most teams use the 40 time that's on their scouts' stopwatch as opposed to any "official" time that makes its way through the media. After the workout, Thomas met extensively with the San Diego Chargers.

Joey Bosa is receiving very positive reviews for his workout today. He was faster (under 4.8 on most watches), stronger (28 on the bench) and significantly better in drills. Most on hand thought his position workout was outstanding. In the coming weeks, Bosa will work out or officially visit the Tennessee Titans (who met with him after the workout), Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Darron Lee spent a lot of time with the San Francisco 49ers after the workout and also met with the Tennessee Titans. He has cemented himself as a top-15 pick.

While it was only bag drills, scouts on hand told me they were surprised by the power and punch displayed by Taylor Decker today.

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............

My gut says WLB Darron Lee is a pick the saints would make.

Joshua Perry I still like as a SLB. Coverage skill are solid up to say 15 to 20 yards against WR. He can handle TE and RB in flat with no problem. Never used as a pass rusher really, when he did I like what I saw. underrated skill set

Nick Vannett could be a bargain like they said. Vastly under used at OSU. Will the saints go BPA when he is on the board or will needs win out. I like old school TE. But we just sunk a boat load of cash in FA at TE.

Tyvis Powell has it all. question is why did it take so long to show up? I fear he is a money player that only shows up when it is check time.

Michael Thomas raw, route tree what that? I question his hands and desire. I see him never living up to his potential yet bouncing around the NFL for years. Can you say Ted Ginn

Clayton Fejedelem is an interesting prospect but he does come with coverage issues. But the kid does leave it all on the field. Special teams beast?

"We may have lost the game, but you'll be hurting tomorrow." Doug Atkins

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............

I'm going to go ahead and get these next batch of receivers out of the way.

These were round 2-3 but some have moved up(over Thomas)

1.
Tyler Boyd vs Louisville (2015) | Draft Breakdown

There was a lot of talk of him on here and I saw it myself. He was playing with what appeared to be a bad oline and ended up making some greats. His 6'1 height is a slight concern, but more concerning is his weight. 197 for a 6'1 frame screams soft.

2.Braxton Miller vs Virginia Tech (2015) | Draft Breakdown
Braxton Miller vs Notre Dame (2015) | Draft Breakdown

It's hard to take a QB-turned WR. I just cannot do that and as I have said never take someone offensive from OSU. Miller had some nice explosive plays though in these clips but he's a wildcat type player I don't think he works for us. Furthermore, he's ranked lower than his teammate!

Now I don't really like any of these.

3.Pharoh Cooper vs Missouri (2015) | Draft Breakdown
Pharoh Cooper vs Miami (2014) | Draft Breakdown
Pharoh Cooper vs Kentucky (2015) | Draft Breakdown

Not impressed at all. As a gamecock fan I didn't see many games last two years but his lack of clips on Draft Breakdown is concerning. The three clips I got of him, he's small and do not see him translating to the NFL well. I remember a guy named the late Kenny McKinley. He was better than Cooper in college too. Alshon is a good enough reason to stay away here. He was the best SC had in a long time.

4.Sterling Shepard vs Tennessee (2015) | Draft Breakdown
Sterling Shepard vs Clemson (2015) | Draft Breakdown
Just........NO. I have read about Big 12 having terrible talent recruiting but I did not like any of this. It took him to the late part to get anything going against Tennessee. And it seemed he was not as involved against Clemson. I don't like the conference, the school especially(as we know first hand what sooners were for us a couple years ago). And did I mention he's 5'10 and less than 200 pounds?

I'm going to have to relook at some Thomas clips since we may end up drafting him if he's there in round 3. I also was looking down the list for height and weight and the Garrett guy is someone I need to look at as well as Lawler.

Draft
Round 2-Boyd
Maybe
Round 2-Miller
Do Not Draft
Round 3-Cooper
Round 4-Shepard

Tyler Boyd in round 2 would be a solid pick. I think he suffering from the same thing Keenan Allen did. over valued early then over scouted later.

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............

I wouldn't like the Boyd selection at all; he's too small a physique...

Overly talented for a small slot receiver; lacking as a X or even a Y receiver...

Garrett is intriguing, but do we really want to wait for him to develop in two years on a possible No. 1 receiver?!?

he looked good against one of the better defensive schools in VT. That speaks volumes.
