If you're gonna spend a first round pick on a right tackle, I'd spend it on Oregon's Fisher...but I wouldn't waste it on the Pitt guy... Should Colorado St's Ty Sambrailo falls to us with one of our third round picks, that'd be a gifted athlete to grab and best scenario... Third Round targets include OU's Daryl Williams, Texas A&M's Cedric Ogbuehi, or Penn St's Donovan Smith... The priority after initial FA and subsequent trades has to be that front seven in the defense (OLB, DE, ILB); it has got to be fortified, improved. Some late round sleepers - Toledo's Chase Nelson and West Virginia's Mark Glowinski and Eastern Washington's Jake Rodgers... Rodgers is the guy I've started taking a real interest in and someone I'd hope the Saints are as well... |
Re: 2015 draft??
Negative Report on DT Eddie Goldman...
The news wasn't quite as good for massive defensive tackle Eddie Goldman, however, who did not work out at the combine. Given his broad 6-4, 336-pound frame, no one was expecting Goldman to run a particularly fast time in the 40-yard dash and he didn't, clocking in at roughly 5.30. Goldman also showed less explosiveness than expected, however, producing just a 26-inch vertical jump and 19 repetitions of 225 pounds in the bench press, numbers that would have ranked among the worst among defensive tackles tested at the combine. Source: 2015 NFL Draft: 5 takeaways from this week's Pro Day workouts - CBSSports.com Now my interest is even more keen with my Pick No. 187 (R6, 11) NT Deon Simon, Northwestern St (LA); 6’ 4⅜”, 321 lbs... |

Ty Sambrailo Donovan Smith good list of late rounders and sleepers. too OG Jarvis Harrison Texas A&M 6'4" 330 5.19 10 split 1.77 *3 cone 7.51, arms 33 1/2 this is one i can not figure out. this guy has round 1/2 talent and possible pro bowl type of skills. loves basketball so much it appears it interferes with his football:confused: then shows up late for his pro day blaming his clock.. Conditioning concerns aka desire  funny as it sounds he kinda reminds me of Carl Nick. loads of talent and loaded with questions. THAT WORKED OUT PRETTY WELL FOR A 4TH. third? maybe not. some have him as a 7/UDFA rankings. but if he is on the board and the saints take him in the say the fifth or if we end up with a 4th, even in the 4th i would be kinda happy and waiting to see if he clicks like Nicks did. 3rd round would put me on the edge of my seat talk about a player who skills are not in question nor are off field issues. millions of dollars are riding on his interviews. "dude were is head at" |
Re: 2015 draft??
here are a few late to UDFA I am starting looking into more
DT/DE Kristjan Sokoli Buffalo 6050 290 4.86 CB Darryl Roberts Marshal 5110 187 4.38 CB/S Tray Walker Texas Southern 6023 187 4.54 CB DeVante Bausby Pittsburg State 6011 179 4.28 Now I think i found the perfect who the heck? draft pick for the saints -i know the word is getting out about the kid but i just walked away very impressed. The idea of a 6'3" 205 lbs. A slot WR kinda made me giddy WR Tyrell Williams Western Oregan 603 204 4.43 40 time: 4.42 / 4.44 seconds Vertical jump: 39.5 inches Broad jump: 10-foot-7 20-yard short shuttle: 4.11 seconds Three-cone drill: 6.55 seconds Speed size quickness good hands, excels in traffic and actual a solid blocker blocker. versatility? quickness to work out of the slot and a legitimate down field threat out wide. Talk about dominating competition at the second level |
Re: 2015 draft??
Hagan...
Jarvis Harrison may now go in the mid-second round, early third round... |

Re: 2015 draft??
stumbled across this today.
4. New Orleans (from Oakland, Oakland gets pick #13, a 3rd round pick and DE Cam Jordan): Leonard Williams, DL, Southern Cal Why make this trade? It comes down to why would the Saints create a hole then try to fill it again? Why not stick with Cam Jordan and stay at 13? Two reasons: 1, Jordan is a good B/B+ level player and probably will never improve from that. Williams could be an A level player as a rookie and is a perfect fit for that defense. 2, Jordan’s making nearly 7 million this season and will become a free agent for a team that’s up against the cap. With the market for top end 3-4 defensive ends highly distorted towards the players, the Saints are figuring that they’re really saving a few million to upgrade the spot at the cost of a 3rd round pick. Jon Fox's Third 2015 NFL Mock Draft | VAVEL.com If he is there this does make sense for the reasons stated by Jon Fox. I still think the Bucs take Leonard Williams at 1. this is Lovie we are talking about here, I would love the pick. rather ship Jr off and let Jordan walk and play the comp pick game. At 31 31. New Orleans (from Seattle): AJ Cann, OG, South Carolina Why not Denzel Perryman? Perryman would help their defense, but they just dealt for Dannell Ellerbe and have David Hawthorne in place. After dumping Ben Grubbs onto Kansas City, they have a big hole on the left side of their offensive line. Cann made 40+ starts for an SEC school and can play anywhere in the interior of a line. which the "can play anywhere in the interior of a line" is not what i have been reading. I know OC is an option but RG? hmmm have to look at him some more |
Re: 2015 draft??
Thats alot to give up imo
I have read a few reports of people saying that Williams may never be a great pass rusher. Loosing the third hurts imo. |
Re: 2015 draft??
I haven't seen or read the name Ben Heeney thrown around much on this board but what impressions do any of you have on him?
He could be the most athletic ILB no one is talking about. |
Re: 2015 draft??
"Stumbled across this"
Or "Jeanpierre just sent me an email" |
Re: 2015 draft??
I like my scenario better, give up a future first round pick (hopefully it'd be pick no. 32 in the 2016 draft) and swap pick 13 for 4 and our latter 5th pick for their fourth round pick...
Or just send Cam and pick 13 for their no. 4... Better still send Junior and pick 13 for no. 4... |
Re: 2015 draft??
Quote:
a lot to like. picks like this are hard. high motor guy flies all over place but i have watched the J-hawks a few time and the one negative i have is sloppy tackling. leverage and wrapping up is not his strong suit then again coaching could very well be the issue in Kansas and the reason why you do not really scout that system for defensive players. That could explain the scouting reports and all the bad guessing stuff. No one blames his instincts |
Re: 2015 draft??
Level of competition is another factor in the equation...
How do these guys stack up when playing elite (later NFL) talent?!? Some guys play lights out and maximize everything, but top out in college... How do their games translate to the NFL where nearly every defensive lineman can run at or under a 5.1 40 yd dash?!? Or by the second year in an NFL training room can bench 25-30 reps of 225 lbs?!? It's finding that limited film against elite competition or making those dominating plays that make you sit up in your seat - that's what you have to scour to find... |

Re: 2015 draft??
My All-In Mock Draft (Updated)
Staying with my plan to move up in the top ten (10) with the best, most viable trade partner, Oakland; at they're only twelve (12) true first rounders... Pick Pos Name, Alma Mater, Height, Weight Pick No. 004 (R1, 04) LB Vic Beasley, Clemson, 6' 3", 246 lbs. (Via Oakland) *1 Other than Scherff, this is the only player in the top 5-10 to truly have the biggest impact on our team; he's gets the edge over Scherff as there is only one question mark on the offensive line, Lelito, at this point and the defense performance demands this pick... Pick No. 013 (R1, 13) (Traded Oakland) *1 Pick No. 031 (R1, 31) LB Stephone Anthony, Clemson, 6' 2⅜", 243 lbs. (Via Seattle) *2 Move Anthony up to this pick as I don't think he goes through the gambit of another round of JAX, CHI, ATL, CLE without getting selected; this defense is in more dire need of an ILB as much as an OLB and Hawthorne has shown he's not the answer regardless of whether Ellerbe can have an impact... Pick No. 044 (R2, 12) LB P.J. Williams, Florida St, 6' 0", 195 lbs. Not sure this opportunity will present itself in light of his recent mistake, but if he's there, got to jump on this as we've got to get CB fixed on this team... Pick No. 075 (R3, 11) WR Chris Conley, Georgia, 6' 2", 213 lbs. Leading receiver in UGA offense that featured RB Gurley, he can flat out fly and provide that outside speed threat at the "Y" position in Saints 3 wide-out sets, really opening things up for Colston, Cooks et al to put the scare back into defenses... Pick No. 078 (R3, 14) OT Rob Havenstein, Wisconsin, 6' 7", 321 lbs. (Via Miami) *3 Very much in the mould of Zach Strief; though he had poor measurables, they showed significant improvement between combine and pro-day; excellent candidate to tutelage behind Strief and could be ready by year three when Strief's contract expires; excellent depth regardless... Pick No. 102 (R4, 03) OG Mark Glowinski, Georgia, 6' 4", 307 lbs. (Via Oakland) *1 West Virginia OL has gone under the radar with teammate WR getting all the attention, but has show impressive measurables, intelligence, and athleticism to move up and warrant this selection... Pick No. 112 (R4, 13) (Traded to Seattle) *2 Pick No. 148 (R5, 12) TE Blake Bell, Oklahoma, 6' 6", 252 lbs. Like another kid that once played TE for the Saints, he's a big body with a small sample size, but it's impressive; former QB developing quickly into a red zone threat who could more than offer a rather large bucket to throw for our QB to score in the end zone... Pick No. 154 (R5, 18) (Via Kansas City, Traded to Oakland) *4, *1 Pick No. 187 (R6, 11) NT Deon Simon, Northwestern St (LA); 6’ 4⅜”, 321 lbs Great big, raw body that with the right coaching would be the steal of the draft; Bill Belichick, who knows a thing or two about defensive linemen, even sat in and participated in his combine interview. Bunkley's last season and to jumpstart another candidate for the NT rotation with Jenkins, we don't have to go far for this in-state product... Pick No. 230 (R7, 13) DE Brian Mihalik, Boston College; 6' 9", 309 lbs. Definitely a development project that will require at least a year in NFL conditioning program, weight room and position coaching, has demonstrated physical length at times to be an imposing player and would do great to learn behind our 3-4 Defensive Ends, his projected position. *1 Mock Trade - NO sends Picks 013 (R1, 13), 154 (R5, 18), & Future 1st round pick (or Gallette or Vaccaro or Jordan) to OAK for Pick 004 (R1, 04), 102 (R4, 03). *2 Graham Trade - NO sends All-Pro TE Jimmy Graham and Pick 112 (R4, 13) to SEA for All-Pro C Max Unger and Pick 031 (R1, 31) *3 Stills Trade - NO sends WR Kenny Stills to MIA for LB Dannell Ellerbe and Pick 078 (R3, 14) *4 Grubbs Trade - NO sends LG Ben Grubbs to KC for Pick 154 (R5, 18). Alternate Selections/Priority Free Agents: TE Brian Parker, Albany, 6' 4", 260 lbs. WR Jake Kumerow, Wisconsin-Whitewater; 6' 4˝", 208 lbs. LB Tony Washington, Oregon, 6' 4", 245 lbs. OL Tyler Moore, Florida, 6' 4", 325 lbs. DL Olsen Pierre, Miami (FL), 6' 4", 300 lbs. |

Re: 2015 draft??
Here we go... 2 1/2 weeks until our Christmas. Here's my latest Fanspeak 3 round mock draft. Once again, I didn't restart it to get the picks to happen the way I wanted them to. So without further adieu...
R1P13 DT DANNY SHELTON WASHINGTON -He fell to 13... I sprinted to turn in the card with his name on it. We have Bunkley and Jenkins... Yeah, I think a little help inside is pretty necessary. R1P31 WR PHILLIP DORSETT MIAMI -At this point even people who don't care about the draft have heard about Payton drooling over this guy. Lock it in. He's Kenny's replacement only he's a better prospect than Kenny so let's call it an upgrade. R2P12 ILB STEPHONE ANTHONY CLEMSON -I'm not gonna lie... At this point I'm leaning toward Paul Dawson. With Stephone Anthony I feel like his measurables are fantastic, but can he live up to his potential? I hardly even heard of the guy before the Senior Bowl. I'm going Anthony here but I think I'm over him... Drafting this highly based on potential is just a recipe for disaster. R3P11 G ALI MARPET HOBART -A total Saints pick following in the footsteps of Jahri Evans and Terron Armstead... Small school player but instant stud. R3P14 CB IFO EKPRE-OLOMU OREGON -So who is our nickel back? Nobody so far... Enter a guy whose draft stock tumbles a bit thanks to the knee injury but at one time he was considered the top CB in this class. Total steal... Total no-brainer. |
