Re: 2015 draft??
R1 OT LA'EL COLLINS LSU
All the flashy combine LB/DL were gone. I still like this pick. R2 CB JALEN COLLINS LSU my #1 #2 CB was gone Collins is the booby prizes. settling for and excellent unpolished CB with upside was hard to do RB JEREMY LANGFORD MICHIGAN STATE Always go for a complete RB is my motto. always has been way under valued. R4 G ALI MARPET HOBART Developmental OG/OC for the future. besides we need Hobart in the line up with all the other small school OL we have. Trivia: name all the school the start OL for the saint came from? R5 CB CHARLES GAINES LOUISVILLE Gaines in the 5th? long shot R6 DT DERRICK LOTT CHATTANOOGA Ok the big upstart IMO at the combine. did what he was suppose to do. R7 OLB EDMOND ROBINSON NEWBERRY Round 7 always fluid as usual and change with the tides. here is my developmental pick of the week. The combine confirmed one thing, this is not a deep class for 34 LBers. the few i like were all gone by the end of round 2 and the few i would reach on were also gone. CB depth upgraded. OL get a solid infusion of youth DL and LB get one toy each toys |
Re: 2015 draft??
Waynes ran faster than expected, topping everyone at the combine with his 4.32 40-time. Very nice, i like that.
Byron Jones jumped out of the building with His broad & vertical. Vertical - 44.5" Record broad jump - 12'3" woooww! That was unexpected. Looks good on tape, but didnt see much of that athleticism. Gotta go back & look. |
Re: 2015 draft??
That's great, he can work out. How does Jones look on the field?

Jones is a solid player. i watched a few of his games. came away thinking man or press was not his game and zone might be needed. now i have to wonder about coaching. better at safety than CB in other words. but as a day three pick up? yep worth the pick. not a bad return man either. lats see that clocked speed Jallin Collins looked as good as promised Shaw looked great even if he is a false savior. 26 bench aint shabby at all Gains and Rowe impressed also. my boy Kevin Johnson was disappointing a bit. now i wait for his pro day. but the kid can play Ibra Campbell i was looking forward to see. disappointed he was out. but 23 bench was very impressive. now off to the pro day. kid is silky smooth Craig Mager Texas State caught my eye. got see if i can see more of him |

Re: 2015 draft??
They are saying we may miss out on the top pass rushers. We waited one year too late. Everyone now wants the SEC and ACC.
|
Re: 2015 draft??
We will be able to get either a very good pass rusher, offensive lineman or NT and we need all three

Signing two interior linemen (i.e. Wisniewski and Boling as I humbly suggested) will shore that unit up and secure the investment at QB... Regarding cornerback, the talent only got better in that unit after a good season and then dropped off?!? That tells me scheme, coaching, communication fell off and was addressed with Allen... For Payton to have made changes there, even with someone electively leaving, and then bringing back Allen, former head coach, should be telling... Really, really believe we've got the talent, depth to compete in that unit and have faith in Dennis Allen and his abilities to turn that unit around... The line of scrimmage must be won above all else and the interior offensive line and the pass rush should be the priority... |

I'm really disgruntled we may not get Ray or Beasley. What about Shaq? Did he disappoint like you'd expect from a Pac 12 defensive player?

And at only 2 bucks and a quarter, he's a strong safety, a very athletic strong safety... Unless we're ready to move Vacarro back to Free Safety or as the second cornerback or just move on, it makes no sense to select him without moving someone... So I don't see Shaq in the Saints future without moving someone... |

Out of the top twenty (20) draft candidates, there are only four (4) of these (bold) that are the only guys I'd be interested...
Otherwise, trade back and get additional picks in the top 75... 01 DT Leonard Williams, USC, 6' 5", 302 lbs 02 QB Jameis Winston, Florida State, 6' 4", 231 lbs 03 QB Marcus Mariota, Oregon, 6' 4", 222 lbs 04 LB Dante Fowler, Florida, 6' 3", 261 lbs 05 WR Amari Cooper, Alabama, 6' 1", 211 lbs 06 LB Vic Beasley, Clemson, 6' 3", 246 lbs 07 DT Danny Shelton, Washington, 6' 2", 339 lbs 08 WR Kevin White, West Virginia, 6' 3", 215 lbs 09 DE Randy Gregory, Nebraska, 6' 5", 235 lbs 10 DE Shane Ray, Missouri, 6' 3", 245 lbs 11 OT Brandon Scherff, Iowa, 6' 5", 319 lbs 12 WR DeVante Parker, Louisville, 6' 3", 209 lbs 13 OT Andrus Peat, Stanford, 6' 7", 313 lbs 14 DE Alvin Dupree, Kentucky, 6' 4", 269 lbs 15 CB Trae Waynes, Michigan St, , 6' 0", 186 lbs 16 OT La'el Collins, LSU, 6' 4", 305 lbs 17 DT Malcolm Brown, Texas, 6' 2", 319 lbs 18 OT T.J. La'el is definitely where he belongs, but I don't want to take the 16th rank player with the 13th pick... Look at Waynes and I don't trust what I see; would prefer a more athletic, physical cornerback... Re: 2015 draft??
14 players that need to have a strong Pro Day
Greg Gabriel blah blah blah Over the years, I have seen some drafted as high as the second round, but the majority of these players start coming off the board starting around the fourth round. While teams are interested in these players because of the way they played during the season, their performance on their pro day is also important in the evaluation process. These non-combine players have to have workout numbers better or similar to invited players at their position. The pro days are also important for the players that didnt live up to expectations at the Combine. The players who are happy with their Combine results will not take part in the measurable events such as the 40, the 20 yard shuttle, the 3-cone and the jumps. They will only do the position-specific drills for coaches after the measurable drills are finished. There are other players who feel they need to improve on some of their combine times in order to keep their value high. After going through the Combine results, here are some players who may want to redo some of their drills. Ameer Abdullah Nebraska While his jumps and agilities were excellent, he only ran 4.61. He may want to run the 40 again. Melvin Gordon Wisconsin The same holds true for Gordon. I think every scout in the league felt Gordon would break 4.45. When he ran 4.52 that was a bit disappointing. Duke Johnson Miami He is another running back who ran slower than expected. He may also want to try and improve on his 33.5″ vertical jump. Johnson did not run any of the agilities, so he needs to run those also. Trae Waynes Michigan State While Waynes ran fast, his agility times were slow compared with the other top corner prospects. Slow times in the agility drills can mean a prospect is tight in the knees or hips. Marcus Peters Washington - Marcus looks fast on tape, but he didnt run fast at Indy. 4.54 is not first round corner speed. His other drills were good enough. Kevin Johnson Wake Forest With Kevin, its the same story as Peters, excellent jumps and agilities and an average 40 time. Ladarius Gunter Miami Most felt he would run in the low 4.5s. He ran in the 4.60s. He has to run again. Quinten Rollins Miami (Ohio) He ran much slower than anticipated, the problem he may have is Miami (Ohio) does not have an indoor facility and he may want to wait until early April before he attempts to run again. Danny Shelton Washington Every one want to compare Shelton to Ngata, but Ngata ran a 5.13 at Indy and Shelton ran in the 5.6s. He needs to improve his speed or his value will drop a little. Justin Hardy East Carolina I never thought Hardy was a burner, but his average time of 4.58 is not quite fast enough. Vince Mayle Washington State The same holds true with Mayle as he ran 4.67. Maxx Williams Minnesota - His speed was disappointing in that he ran 4.85, 4.77. He needs to run in the 4.6s if he wants to be considered as a first round candidate. Paul Dawson TCU No one thought he was going to be a speedster, but 4.95 is way too slow. I would think he will be first in line to run at TCUs pro day. Shaq Thompson Washington Shaq plays like he can run in the mid 4.5s. His 40 times were 4.72 and 4.69. If I were him, Id run again. 14 players that need to have a strong Pro Day | National Football Post |
