Well, they were at 82 this morning, so it doesn't necessarily mean Kruger has signed...

Great News! Thinking Hightower may be expendable unless Spiller or ingram are traded...

Re: 2016 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

I wouldn't let Hightower go
Id be shocked if Ingram and Spiller manage 16 games. Lasco proven nothing so far

jeanpierre 08-30-2016 02:58 PM

Re: 2016 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

We're not keeping that many running backs...

It'll be Ingram, Spiller, Lasco, Murphy and Kuhn...

Even Cadet at least plays special teams; Hightower doesn't...

And that'll be the difference maker...

Agreed, Hightower filled in perfectly when Ingram got injured.

I've seen nothing so far this preseason to say that Lasco or Spiller would be able to do that.

Chris, how long have you been following the Saints? We'll be lucky if the Mickster and Coach P turn their list in tomorrow...

You know those crazy fax lines in So. Louisiana are always kicking back errors...

And, yes, for now, Coleman is still in the Black & Gold fold...

But there're still transactions to be made to get the roster compliant...

I just meant because RJ Harris had a much better training camp than Coleman did and he gets cut first.

Coleman is still #4 on the WR depth chart.

Don't think he gets the tap this season ... if his game doesn't improve, maybe next year.

Re: 2016 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

I'm thinking something like this...

WDE: Kruger, Edebali, Gwacham

SDE: Jordan, Richardson

It's quite possible that Gwacham gets cut too if Payton really likes this McCain kid.

jeanpierre 08-31-2016 09:46 AM

Re: 2016 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

From my vantage, we have five (5) men who are essentially going to fight for two (2), maybe three (3) spots...

Kasim Edebali, Obum Gwacham, Davis Tull, Chris McCain and Paul Kruger...

What really sucks is that we have a walk-through practice, a game and then some are going to be let geaux...

Kruger wasn't signed this late into the process without a long-term agenda... 4 in 5

With a draft pick attached to keeping McCain, his retention could be doubtful, but Payton and the Mickster don't value draft picks... 1 in 5

Davis Tull has a terrific first step, athleticism, but is too small to anchor as a 4-3 DE; he's a 3-4 OLB, and maybe could be a SAM backer allowing Anthony to geaux back to MIKE? 1 in 5

Obum Gwachum was unable to anchor in the run game despite his hard work bulking up and with the recent acquisitions it would seem that experiment is done, but Payton has reward players who kept the faith... 2 in 5

Kasim Edebali seemed the heir apparent and had flashes, but has lacked consistency; get the feeling he'll be playing in Buffalo if he's not a DA guy, plus he won't be under contract after the season; expect a trade attempt...2 in 5

McCain acquisition was insurance in case we didn't get Kruger and gave some leverage to Saints...

Either way, what was on the roster didn't give Coach Payton comfort, so if you were a weakside defensive end rusher on the Saints roster prior to Tuesday, you have to be nervous...

It's either an extreme vote of no-confidence or one helluva shot across the bow...

K Major 08-31-2016 09:58 AM

Re: 2016 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

I think Tull is cut next time around. If this ends up the case, hopefully he can clear waivers and get placed on the practice squad.

Re: 2016 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

Just watched a couple of the re-broadcast of the local sports last night; all the local fleas are saying the coaches are intimating how much they like Gwachum...

I haven't seen the guy do anything in a game yet, much less do something that makes me geaux "Wow!"

Have seen what I thought I'd see and that is Obum getting engulfed at the point of attack while trying to hold the edge in a run play...

jeanpierre 09-01-2016 11:38 PM

Re: 2016 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

Observations:

Only two QBs should be retained at this point - Drew Brees and Luke McCown...

Tommylee Lewis and Jordan Williams should be the fourth and fifth wide receivers...

Some guys play in games much better than practice; don't know why Joe Cheek isn't getting into games sooner because he sure flashes...

It's a damn shame Fullington doesn't have more size, he could be awesome with more length and weight...

Tony Hills and Tyrus Thompson are about two of the saddest sacks; only Tim Lelito has to be more disappointing...

Now we know why Jack Allen looked so good; Marcus Henry played with alot of heart, but that was a brutal performance...

Don't drink the cool-aid, Terron Armstead is more broke than Payton is letting on; expect a fine for his reluctant injury disclosures this season...

I'd expect to see the following line a few times this season - Peat - Turner - Unger - Kelemete - Strief; ask Drew at the end of the season how many years he's got let in him then...

With Hooman out, we could have two TEs and two FBs on the roster...

Darryl Tapp wants a job; so does John Jenkins; where was the sense of urgency earlier?

Davis Tull is playing like he just learned about the game of football; Onyemata looked like he's been playing since he was a kid compared to the beginning of training camp...

Ashaad Mabry is a tough out; that would be my toughest cut if I'm Coach Payton; until Jenkins showed up tonight, Mabry outplayed him...

Paul Kruger will start at WDE with Edebali on ready-standby; Gwachum looked lost and Tull looked like a spectator; I'd wait on giving away a 7R pick on McCain - why give up a 7R pick on a limited player?

He must have alot of fans upstairs and in the front office, but Dillon Lee has outpracticed, outplayed Mike Mauti and Mauti is squeezing all is juice from one fortunate play last season...

Finnegan should get a roster spot; Dixon's kicking game coverage may not be enough to secure a job...

I'd like to have seen Vonn Bell and Erik Harris alternate and run with the ones; f*ck, d*mn, sh*t do I hate, regret us signing Byrd...

Barth wins the kicking challenge which means he'll be gone after his first miss by Week 3...

Why didn't the long snapper come out in support of Delta House protesting Kaepernik's disrespect of the national anthem? He should be like Griffin and have to play another position...

You sound as upbeat as i feel
