So… in-house candidate it is then for outside CB.

There's a lot of DB talent already in-house; while I'm not impressed with the Poole (another nickel) signing, Saints may be on the fence re: FAs available...

So the right move is to see the pieces you got for a week or so of training camp, and if it looks to be a problem, then you bring in someone...

You've got two promising projects in Keith Washington and Bryce Thompson (bookmarked), and you need to see if Patrick Robinson can still run with the dogs...

Now, wouldn't have signed Poole, may've extended some others, used 2021 remaining cap of $11,379,424 to start to reduce 2022's ($37,647,048) deficit...

Because the cap is likely to rise significantly with a new television deal, but if the #WuhanPandemic doesn't teach Payton/Loomis to allow for #BlackSwans, oh well...

Well, Vikes got another one (Westbrook)...

Curious what the final contract numbers will be for Nelson vs Poole?

Hogan is literally playing professional lacrosse right now. This season is starting to feel very 2015-ish.

Have a look at our 2015 roster on 10/1/2015 and compare to today's. I'll take today's roster every day over that roster.

It could be worse, Hogan could've spent the past year sitting on a couch and masked up when he was stuffing his face with #GrubHub...

Actually, this is the kind of player I like to sign and that Sean use to sign early on in his tenure - one that is self-motivated...

I like our roster this year too.

O line is potentially top 5. Interior D line is sneaky good (more depth than you think) and boy do we have a lot to throw at a QB from the edges!

Pass catchers - Callaway is underrated. Deonte another matchup nightmare. Then you factor in Kamara, Hill and Trautman... I'm a believer.

Secondary seems patchwork. Not as confident here. Camp will show a lot but it feels like there's still another domino to fall.

Special Teams shouldn't be a concern.

QB.... prove them all wrong Jameis. I will laugh with you!

We literally have the same DBs as last year with the exception of Paulson Adebo for Janoris Jenkins; and now have an abundance of NBs with Poole...

Callaway hasn't shown he can stay healthy; Tre'Quan is in the last year of his rookie contract, and still looks like a rookie; Deonte is special, but limited by his height...

Until we see what Baker is all about, have no confidence in this WR group as it is; Trautman was an unnecessarily expensive, but solid pick and should do well...

IF there's any truth to bringing back Brandin Cooks, who's on an affordable contract and knows he's an elite WRz, not a WRx (as Harris isn't), Sean needs to get it done...

Don't sleep on Chris Hogan ...

Could be a chain mover in this offense. Was watching some of his film, has good hands, runs solid routes and has the ability to make the tough catch in traffic.

Let's evaluate @ training camp. Maybe he sticks.

Major's right; that great season Hogan had with the Patriots, Belichick moved Hogan all over (WRx, WRz, WRs) to counter injured players; tremendous get for Sean...

This could be the piece we need over some higher profile cap intensive option.

I'm all in on this one! As you said, it can address multiple concerns at WR, JP!

We still have to have three legit threats to start at each position; Hogan is not a feature guy, but he can get the job done week to week as guys are banged up...

He's the type of player with an athletic ceiling, but he's maximized his conditioning and skills and he will always be prepared and where he's supposed to be...

Yes, same DBs but no one started at CB 2 with any real effectiveness. See Payton's comment yesterday - "MUST"

Keep in mind our O line can be elite. If that hold true, someone will be open every play.

Pass on Cooks. Big on Trautman (expensive....whut?)

If I remember correctly we spent a third round picks up but we did move up and I'm not sure what the compensation was for moving up.

They traded the seventh rounder (244th overall) from Cleveland, along with their own fourth- (130), fifth- (169) and sixth-round (203) picks for pick number 105 in the third round. Seems like a good deal to me to get what is now a starting TE. There's no guarantee that any of the traded picks would have fielded a starting player.

Not saying your opinion is wrong but on the flip side with all of those picks given up for a single player we could have hit on possibly all of them, their are plenty of players drafted around those times not including undrafted that have had solid to great careers in the league. I think alot of that is laziness on the scouting department and coaches. From Pierre Thomas to Tom Brady.

I'll buy the beer if I'm wrong (I'm partial to Yuengling Lager), but I believe you're gonna be really happy with Adebo...

Now Jenkins missed three games last year, and in no way am I saying PJ or PRob is just as good as Jackrabbit, they peformed well and the secondary wasn't the liability it was in previous seasons...

I am as optimistic about this secondary as AG getting a tatoo of Sean Payton on his backside...

Patrick Robinson on an island to start week 1 is begging for 6.

Bring in another vet.

No matter who the CB2 is, they will not be on an island - that role is for Marshon Lattimore...

I think you get what I'm saying JP.

Latt will maintain his side however good offensive coordinators will target the guy opposite Marshon. PJ & old man PRob ain't gonna cut it.

Again, expect them to bring in a vet until Mr. Mansfield (Paulson Adebo) is ready for the FT role.

I'm all for optimism - you should know, you've hip-checked my outlook back to reality a time or two - but we need a day 1 starter at #2 (not accounting for Lattimore susp.) and we're relying on a rookie who didn't play last year and a 33 year old mid-tier talent??

If we were willing to jump into the Top 10 for Surtain, we're still searching today.

Around 35% of drafted players ever start half the games in their careers. Very few of those come from the last few rounds. They do happen, but are very rare.

It doesn't come from laziness, at least not from those picking the talent. Those picked late are picked late for a reason.

I am more than willing for another Saints addition to my tattoos. I'd rather them be more visible, however.

I don't think that's fair to say. Guido is opinionated and while we don't always agree, I appreciate the differing viewpoints. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks so either.
