SPEED.

With Winston’s arm, speedy WRs might be in need.

Once again, failure is inherent to a degree in the drafting world. You mention "same mistakes". What are those "same mistakes"? In your ultra critical, point-of-view definition, a mistake may not be a mistake to others. You appear to define anything that is not excellence, or not according to your wishes, as being a mistake or failure when it comes to the Payton/Loomis drafts. I know that is an overstatement on my part, but you must know what I mean.

And who has used "inexact" as an excuse for failure? It is not an excuse. It is a descriptive adjective describing the basic nature of the NFL draft.

A fullback, a blocking TE and whoever the hell this guy is... And people thought kicking the can down the road wouldn’t catch up to us because of LoOmIsNoMiCs!

You must be confusing this guy with someone else. Jalen is small (5'10/165) however he's a burner.

4.27 40 guy.

To be fair, scouts/talent evaluators vs personnel men are two different sides of the same coin...

Mayock knows talent, but he may be out of his depth right now as GM...

Then there's whether or not Coach Gruden is doing his job to maximize putting the talent in the best possible position to win...

My argument has been that Payton spends too much time in evaluating and making personnel decisions and not coaching players up as he did earlier in his tenure...

Payton needs to heed his own locker room propaganda - #DoYourJob...

Ahhh fair enough, looking at his highlight tape, he seems to play a bit bigger than he is then. Some of the "away from the body" catches he makes, shows a decent catch radius.

This is what humanity and humility amongst Saints fans looks like...

Re: 2021 NFL Free Agency: New Orleans Saints

I’d like to be able to add Fitzgerald on a low cost, last-chance-for-a-ring contract. I feel his experience could go a long way in helping either Hill or Winston develop and he would help in the Red Zone.

Was thinking Golden Tate would be more affordable, realistic...

At this point of his career, Fitz' Zip Code is likely staying in the AZ 82305...

Maybe they're not sold on the privilege of playing on a Sean Payton-coached team and giving a discount?

We can continue to sign veterans, the salary cap is based on the Top 51 Rule...

Simply, the free agents contracts just have to be less than the top 51 contracts on book...

Currently, that cutoff is at WR Jake Lampman with a contract number of $780K...

Per Over The Cap | New Orleans Saints, we currently have $219,354 of cap space...

Re: 2021 NFL Free Agency: New Orleans Saints

I don't think they should use next years money to sign a vet this year.

With the roster cuts this year it would have to be a perfect set of events for this team to compete for a superbowl. I don't think the depth is there too challenge, it would take this draft and UDFA haul to be better than 2017s.
So why waste future resources that are going to be needed next years to sign the FA we have coming up, especially with only 35 players under contract for next season as it is and by the time the new draftees have been signed they'll have had to redo or resign a player anyway.

I think its a decent team on paper with many holes, especially in depth which will effect the rotation. The strength of this team over the past 4 years has been the stout D-Line that has allowed the secondary to be aggresive and able to often play in nickel and let CGJ,Williams and whoever has been the SS to hunt. The depth on the line has taken a massive hit with Tuttle and Roach now expected to move from DT 4/5 to 2/3, add the loss of Jackrabbit who was locking down corners and expecting a talented but 3rd round CB to do that job or pay money they don't have to sign a aging veteran seems a waste.

Covid hitting when it did has obviously blew up the plan they had to deal with the ring chasing but it has really hurt this teams ability to get a full roster than can challenge for me.

Im not expecting a great season at all and would not be shocked if they pick top 10/12 next year, especially if they get the injuries they have over the past few years.

Not too worried though as there are some good young players on the roster and if they can sort the cap and draft well the next two seasons i think they'll be in a great place to push on long term.

I think both the trade deadline this year and the next offseason could be very interesting as i can see a big trade and possibly a big cut coming, especially if Turner and Adebo shine early.

If they don't get joy with Lattimore agent or he is inconsistent and the Saints out of the picture early i could see him being traded at the deadline . Same next summer with Cam if Werner works out,22.6ml is a massive cap hit especially when a June 1st cut/trade saves 14ml,same with Peat and June 1st trade(trade only no cut) means only 4ml dead money and 10ml saving.

Let the young kids play and see what you have in Trautman,Calloway,Adebo,Turner,Werner etc
