DA likes to fool opposing teams but it looks like he confuses our players more often.

Yeah, thought we messed up letting him out the door...

Always thought Senio was a good backup and spot starter. I didn't understand letting him leave either. I always remember him being very reliable.

Perhaps Senio at LG in the playoffs the past couple of years allows Sean to sit an injured, ineffective Peat?

;)

No offense to Kelemete, but he left the Saints to be a starter, which is something he wouldn't have been with the Saints.

And if we are going to play the "what if" game then I'd say the Saints could've added much better guards through the draft and/or free agency since he left.

Not disputing he wanted to be a starter, earn starter money; but how much did he earn vs what we've invested in our sixth man on the offensive line?

and there definitely was an opportunity in the situations I'm referencing...

Lest we forget, Sean and the Mickster spent the money on Peat because the market was barren; so they did what they had to do, but, if you're gonna ask,

Did they wait a season too long to address Peat not working out at guard? were they salvaging a blown first round pick?

Why did they not spend the extra mil and get Zeitler instead of Warford?

How costly is moving up with multiple picks when disposable picks could be used on guards?(see starting guards taken in fourth, fifth, sixth rounds)...

If were not reevaluating to get better, what's the point?

The Saints breed offensive linemen like no other team, that doesn’t always translate to their success with another team though. Senio was one of those players..., Was one of the top guards in the league while here, especially in 2017, but went to Houston and contributed to a pretty crappy offensive line there. A bit of analysis is in order, iyam, from 2017.

“In his career-high 314 pass-blocking snaps at guard with the New Orleans Saints last season, Kelemete allowed just eight total pressures (five hurries, two hits, one sack), which was good for a 98.0 pass-blocking efficiency.”

https://www.pff.com/news/pro-nfls-to...ing-efficiency

A horrible run blocker though, exact opposite of his pass blocking skills. Performed horribly while in Houston though at run and pass blocking. Senio was a quiet performer while in New Orleans. Did his job very well, better than most in the NFL, day in/day out. I liked him then, still do now. Unheralded.

You are assuming Zeitler would have wanted to come here.

I mean Kelemete was never a world-beater, so it's crazy to cry after him.

Many have fond memories of him, but I also distinctly remember seeing him on his back quite a few times.

He was solid depth, but you can't hang on to those guys if someone offers them starter money/opportunity.

Fair point..., but dude was the 4th best pass blocking guard in all of football from a statistical point of view..., when it comes to passing, lol, the year before he left NoLa.

2017 he had 314 pass blocking snaps. Allowing only 8 pressures, 5 hurries, 2 QB hits, and 1 sack. From a pass blocking perspective, you can’t get much better than him.

The sixth man has always been strategically important to the Saints offensive line under Sean Payton, especially with Mr. Glass track record, and now Peat...

So when budgeting the salary slot alottments, that slot will have had more importance to the current Saints roster than other teams...

You aren't wrong, but Payton and Loomis are paying Peat 54M to be that guy laying on the turf / getting QB's injured.

Something else I just noticed about Zeitler, he's never played below the Mason-Dixon line. Not even close to it.

Well, he prepped HS football at Wisconsin Lutheran; college in state at Wisconsin...

Drafted by the Bengals; his first veteran contract he signed for more 'mo with Cleveland over New Orleans...

Traded by Cleveland to NY G'nats along with an exchange of picks for Odell Beckham...

Asked and was released by the G'nats, signed with the Ravens in March of this year; so technically, that's incorrect as Maryland is below the #MasonDixonLine...

Again with the hashtags. You know I was not literally talking about the historical Mason-Dixon line. As you know the "line" is at its northern most stretch as it passes through Maryland. I was simply noting that Zeitler has never played for what would be commonly considered a southernly based team and I mentioned Mason-Dixon as poetic license.

Mason-Dixon as poetic license? sort of like Devil's Advocate, isn't it?

Did you consider your audience? What about the casual fan who reads your post and takes it literally?

Once again "Do As I Say! Not As I Do!"

I apologize profusely, jeanpierre. You are of course correct. I should have noted that he's never played on what would be considered a "southern team". The fact that Baltimore is located 25 miles south of the Mason-Dixon Line shows that he is indeed going to be playing in the deep south.

That said, he has still yet to ever play for a team south of the Mason Dixon Line. Not until his first game this season.

;)
