Yup! I remember when I first heard we were picking up Demario Davis. I was super stoked. I had him on a legacy fantasy league team and knew he was a stud. Hopefully this kid comes through too.

Not that I wouldn’t love a DT with the first pick, it does make it less a need. I’d be happy with BPA.

David O was a good player for us, but he was never the same after his PED suspension.

Agreed. We just got a lot bigger in the trenches.

Khalen Saunders - 6'0" 324 lbs

I wouldn't mind a guy like Kancey or Mazi, but let's just get better wherever we can.

I like Taylor a lot as well. I'd still take a look at corner, but I expect Taylor to start next year.

This brings up a question on why the draft mockers say we need to draft a CB. Do they expect Roby to be a goner? We need depth, yes. Is Smoke ready to step up?

I think Roby is gone and we need depth. Also they don't like Taylor as much as we do. They're thinking we need to replace Adebo and we don't have the replacement yet.

What is Smoke's ceiling?

A lot of scouts seem to believe (before the ACL injury) he's a long-term project/developmental player.

Biggest knocks :

Below average range
Stiff in man coverage
Fundamentals need work (goes for highlight hit instead of wrapping up)
Mental lapses (4 career ejections for targeting)

I wish him well at camp but he's probably years away.

I'd draft another safety.

Could be a very good RB, TE, S, DL will all be a there to pick in the first. BPA is sounding VERY appealing to me.

Given all the personnel changes with both coaches and players this offseason do you see them making any major changes in their defensive approach scheme wise?

I don’t think they will. All our corners are man to man guys. If we’re going to a zone scheme I’d have moved Lattimore already and started picking up guys who fit that better. Darius Slay. Marcus Peters. Those kind of guys.

With the secondaries past performance rez, discounting injuries, why would they consider changing their current scheme. Though overall secondary held up well even durning Lattimore’s absence.

Excited to see Alontae after his coming out party last strong when press into action year. He’s performance answered a lot of the criticisms about where he was taken in the draft. Another excellent evaluation for need and fit by Saints scouting.

Just feel that a solid man to man secondary help the DL, every .5 seconds they maintain cover it give the meat eaters up front more time to pressure disrupt or sack the OB.

I agree. I prefer a man scheme myself. I don't think we should make any changes in that regard. I will say that the Chiefs, Eagles, and 49ers are all zone teams though.
