Saints Add Offensive Line Depth in Free Agency

The New Orleans Saints signed OT Storm Norton to a one-year deal in a move reported by Norton's agency, JL Sports, on Thursday night.

Norton, 28, played college ball at Toledo. He went undrafted in 2017 but was signed by the Detroit Lions, where he was active for one game and spent the first half of the year on the practice squad.

The Arizona Cardinals added him to their practice squad midway through 2017. He was released after a month, but picked up by the Minnesota Vikings for their practice squad to end the season.

The physical is a vital step in the contract process. The contract does not become final until the player passes the physical. I have heard that many times over. If Davenport doesn't clear that physical it can cost us the potential 4th round compensatory pick.

According to spotrac we now have about $17.2 million in cap space. It would take much of a 2023 hit to get him. You know he'd love to play the Bucs twice for cutting him.

Older player (will be 32 in July) & a step slower. Had only 20 rec/174 yards & 0 tds last season with Brady as your QB.

The Saints need to get younger across the board + Juwan is trending (7TDs vs Brate 0) upward. DCarr is in the building now.

Give Juwan more opportunities (targets) in 2023.

I’m also hoping for a TE at our second round pick. Either the Georgia or ND guy should be available at that spot.

I don’t really see an issue with the age of the roster. It’ll drop drastically when Cam Jordan, Demario Davis, and Tyrann Mathieu walk away. I also don’t think Brate would take any targets away from Johnson. If anything it just adds some veteran depth for the inevitable Adam Trautman injury. I expect Johnson to start and get a lot of passes thrown his way.

Exciting looking player on a one year “prove it” deal … might turn it to a long term opportunity for both parties. Don’t know his size but plays long with excellent vertical range, very athletic with good ball skills.

Well, here in north Louisiana it's been 29 degrees each of the last two mornings and hasn't been above 55 degrees. Ready for real Spring weather.

Parkas and stocking caps. No sundresses for sure.
