Will never forget indefensible injustice committed against The Saints and integrity of the game with that non call.

Yup. About as pissed off as I can ever remember being. I became as totally indignant and irrational as, er, perhaps as bad as Bako. Pretty bad. I was miserable. I even signed one of those stupid petitions.

GM Cam Jordan at it again.

Buckner could also be released post 6/1 with no cap impact.

So what's better for New Orleans - trade + restructure or wait for cut + new contract?

I had totally forgot that Vaughn Johnson went to NC State. He showed up the year after my last year with the newspaper there. Although, I was there when Bill Cowher was playing his whole career.

I've never seen Trequan make a contested td catch like this before.

Not to mention he's a YOUNGER (24) GUY. Yes, let's bring him in.

At least make the call. I'd be willing to give up a 3rd for Buckner. He's a legit defensive lineman.

Cam needs help. Davenport is gone & Turner can't seem to stay out of the medical tent.

Just saw coach Hazbeen's halftime speech of the Sea Dragons, XFL. Very motivational speech... He said : Keep Scoring !!!
I wonder just what kind of adjustments that implied ?!?

He was a hell of a defensive player! He shares a birthday with my twin brother and me. Yesterday was a good day.

Re: Official 2023 OFFSEASON Thread

From article linked above:

Teams that often tank and go into a rebuild rarely climb back out of it. The Jets, Browns, Lions, Jaguars, Texans, Bears, and Dolphins wasted years of their fans’ time promising that they just needed to bottom out and get another quarterback with the first or second overall pick before they’d turn it all around. In many cases they never improved, and the coaches and general managers tasked with pulling off the tank-and-rebuild were fired by frustrated owners who didn’t enjoy the process as much as conventional wisdom suggests they would.

Even new Saints addition, Khalen Saunders, notes the simple mindedness of Saints cap critics.

Re: Official 2023 OFFSEASON Thread

Are you going to report your own post for calling people simple minded though?

Just curious.

Anyways, it's not simple minded to be concerned about how we operate. It's all about the circumstance that we're in. Now that we have a legitimate quarterback, "kicking the can" is just fine since we're competing and the cap going up year to year. Now if Dalton or Winston was the starting quarterback for the next couple of seasons, what we're doing doesn't as much sense. The key is being able to see both sides of the argument which some refuse to acknowledge. There's merit to both sides.

The success of the methodology being used by the Saints for the last decade plus depends upon it's being continued as long as the cap continues to skyrocket. To suddenly abandon the philosophy defeats that purpose. That is the simple-mindedness of the Twitter users to which Saunders was addressing in his post and of which I was agreeing.

Yes, there could be merit to both approaches but not when you consider dumping one approach for another in midstream. Correct?

Re: Official 2023 OFFSEASON Thread

My criticism of the critiques of social media hacks of the Saints off-season free agent moves is because almost all of them are basing their stance not upon the quality of the moves themselves, but because the Saints management refused to dump players to go into a virtual tank situation and instead choosing to remain competitive moving forward. That is simple-minded on a Dr. Seussian scale as implied in the Twitter post that I posted.

I agree with this 100%. The Saints aren’t being judged by the moves they made, but instead by the idea that they should tank because they aren't a "true contender" in the eyes of the media. Prior to that everybody said we needed a QB. We got a 4x Pro Bowler. They said we needed help at RB. We picked up Jamal Williams, league leader in TD's last year. We retained an All-Pro WR. We let a bust walk at DE. We've added depth and competition at Safety. Our interior defensive line got bigger and stronger. It's ridiculous.

He's not the only one who's upset! :argue:

I was wrong about Davenport, who I said would make us forget about spending two first round draft picks on a developmental pick. I thought we'd be getting a dominant stud and not a highly questionable draft pick who was an impact player when available. He was never available though.

I would question those on staff who thought Davenport would perform better @ 275 vs 265. He looked totally different in 2022. No burst.

If you hadn't noticed, Payton Turner is BIGGER (heavier) than his original weight as a rookie as well.
